Based on Wilkie Collins' 1868 classic "The Moonstone" which was the precursor and inspiration for English mystery fiction including the Sherlock Holmes stories, this is an excellent hidden object game. Atmospheric and authentically nineteenth century with Tchaikovsky to help you get immersed, you as Sergeant Cuff will try and nail the thief of the fabulously valuable Moonstone diamond which has been stolen from a house when there are nine guests present.

Each of the nine suspects has four different scenes devoted to him and you have to travel back and forth from one environment to the next to find the tools necessary to perform functions and unearth additional hidden objects. The graphics are extremely clear but the objects are often very hard to locate. However, there are no anachronisms- in other words, the objects are authentic to the nineteenth century and you won't find a hotdog or a typewriter nestling on a haystack.

A fun hidden object game, the designers of this game certainly made the most of the Victorian-era setting. You play a detective charged with finding evidence and interviewing suspects in the theft of the Moonstone, a massive diamond stolen by British troops from a temple in India. The stone is said to be cursed and, indeed, when it's inherited by Rachel Verinder her life gets quite complicated. Your mission: solve the crime by identifying the suspect.

As a prior reviewer noted, locating the hidden objects requires good eyesight and, I might add, plenty of patience. At times I found myself grumbling over a clue list that included things like "dusty bottle" in a room where there were four bottles, only one of which was the correct one. Fortunately, there's no penalty for incorrect clicking in this game. That's also a good thing considering that at times the game seemed annoyingly particular about exactly *where* you clicked on an item. Since there's also no time limit, I... Read more

This game was pretty fun. I purchased it when it was on sale so I feel I got my monies worth.

The game is fun....you are trying to find the hidden objects and in addition to this you need to review the clues to find who is the theif. There are also mini games that relate to the story line.

There are many rooms to explore (usually 4 with each suspect)and there are 9 or 10 suspects. The graphics are not super high quality so it can make finding the objects difficult. The only other complaint is that the rooms do not change when you search for clues with a differenct suspect. For example, Rachel's room (and the objects in it) are exactly the same as when you are investigating the butler. A small gripe, but still.

Overall this was a good game. It was fun and imaginitive.
