    As others have stated, the issue with the game failing to patch is real - and it's impossible to run the game without getting the patch installed. Thankfully there is a fix for this that has worked for me. Credit goes to GamingKnight over on the cheap@ssgamer dot com forums:

    "Are you getting the error "Error binary patching file FileName LANLauncher.exe" when the 2nd patch is running?

    The fix was pretty asinine.

    I had to reinstall it to C:\Program Files\RockstarGames\L.A.Noire (notice that RockstarGames had to become one word; no spaces) as opposed to the default of C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\L.A. Noire"

    I can verify that I had the same issue others are complaining about here, and this fix did work. I had to unsinstall the game completely from the original default directory, then re-download and install the game to the suggested directory above.     Like many others in the reviews, my copy didn't start at all. Running as admin doesn't help either, it simply starts the process in task manager and never goes past that. The only way to get it to work was to follow previous advice and get the crack file to make it work. As absurd as it sounds, the people who the game companies fear and complain about are the only ones who got my legit copy to work right.

    I made sure I met all requirements for this game.I bought and downloaded it.And the game will not start up.It asks for permission to run and it does nothing.I would like a refund.
