This review is from: The Settlers: Rise of an Empire Gold Edition [Download] (Software Download) This game was fun- I'm not exactly sure what was fun about it. It actually kind of reminds me of Kingdom for Keflings. You help develop a city by putting down buildings that lead to other resources which lead to other buildings. You get more population by placing these buildings and they eat some of your resources. Eventually you get promoted by having a certain number of resources and can build a military. Then you go off and fight a battle. The battle wont be particular engaging, it's just about telling a few "units" to attack something, which they do automatically until it's done. It's not challenging at all, unfortunately and no strategy is required. Sure, you could make extra fun in it by trying to reduce your time spent finishing a level, but that's not the kind of gamer I am personally. Great story line, involved kingdom building (pay attention to the climate you are in!!), and good real time battle elements. Great game all around, if you like empire building games and/or RTS, you will not be disappointed with this one. The mechanics are well done and so are the graphics. They have a very pleasant feel to them. I recommend this game for its overall creativity and fun.
