This review is from: Supreme Ruler 2020 Gold (CD-ROM) Every country current as of 2008 or so, in vivid, satellite image assisted detail. A button or slider for every economic, military or diplomatic movement you could think to make. Set world volatility to very high and the whole world goes bananas! Some real world beefs between countries are manifested in this game. I would have liked to have seen a more specific cheat to make a particular country go after you, but besides that, this sucker is gold. I play at night, I play at day, I play in the hay! This is not an understatement. It's not exceptional by a long shot, but it does have some rather impressive features. First off, the game takes place on a global scale, and Paradox used actual satellite imagery to make the maps. The music is rather bland, and gets old quickly as there isn't much variety. In fact a single track repeats for most of the time you are playing, so it gets on your nerves after a while. The gameplay is more "Settlers of Catan" than Starcraft, this is to say that this game is geared towards those who prefer something a little less frantic when it comes to strategy games. Essentially you take control over an entire nation, and manage every aspect of it. From taxes to research, to social services, and the military. At the start your country is in debt, all your forces are usually in reserve and depending on what country you start as. it can take a long time to get all your forces out of reserve. Whats best about this game is its playability and attention to detail. and for me there is one huge plus. Air Power. This is the first game i have ever played were air power is no joke. With a huge air-force you can decimate your enemy before your troops even enter their soil. Once you get the hang of everyhting you have to do, this game will please you very much, and re-playability is endless. best secret of the game?? is capitol hunting, take there capitol 3 times and they surrender to you, best way to do that is use airborne troops, drop 50 stacks of troops on there city and watch it fall in a matter of days, rinse and repeat for each time they move there capitol :) Now for the cons.
